My name is Jon Lind, you are reading the first entry of my new blog, DefeatsTheCar. In January 2008 I began importing Dutch bikes made by De Fietsfabriek (DA FEETS-FA-BREEK) to my hometown of Chicago. Now, almost two years later I am setting off on a Winter Tour to bring our great city commuter and cargo bicycles to some new towns with warmer climates this time of year. I will be taking off tomorrow morning. Here is a lowdown of where the bikes will be and on what dates…
- Boulder, CO Dec 3rd – 5th
- Albuquerque, NM Dec 7th-8th
- Los Angeles, CA Dec 10th-20th
- San Diego, CA Dec 21st-25th
- Santa Barbara, CA Dec 26th-27th (just added)
- San Francisco, CA Dec 27th-Jan 6th
Boulder- UBikes at 839 Pearl St on all three days from 12pm to 4pm.
Albuquerque- The Bike Coop at 3407 Central Ave on Monday December 7th from 12pm to 4pm.
Phoenix- Unfortunately, we will not make it to Phoenix after being snowed in at New Mexico. Hopefully we can come to town another time in the future.
Los Angeles- Orange 20 Bikes at 4351 Melrose Ave. (corner of Heliotrope and Melrose) on Saturday December 19th from 12pm to 6pm.
San Diego- Wednesday December 23rd we will be cruising all over Coronado from 10am until 3pm. Call my mobile (312) 608-9281 if you have a hard time finding us.
Santa Barbara- I have never received so many suggestions for one place to go to during this tour than Santa Barbara. No specific locations or events are planned but we will be checking out this cycle friendly town on Saturday December 26th and Sunday the 27th.
More locations will be updated so please check back. I will also figure out how to upload photos and videos but for now I have some bikes to pack up.

Hi Chris. Thanks! I am excited to get down to San Diego and will update the wheres and whens as soon as possible. I plan to be at Ocean Beach, Coronado and La Jolla in the course of three days from the 21st to the 23rd. Look forward to meeting you.
